The United Kingdom office of the Ultimate Fighting Championship announced a lightweight matchup for the recently announced UFC on Versus 6 event featuring TUF 12 finalist Michael ‘The Menace’ Johnson (9-5) and undefeated submission specialist Paul ‘Sassangle’ Sass (11-0).UFC on Versus 6 is expected to take place on October 1 at the Verizon Center in Washington, D.C. and marks the first event ever held by the promotion in the U.S. capital.
The announcement was made via Twitter on Thursday morning @UFC_UK.

Johnson, who was a member of Team GSP during season 12 of “TUF”, earned his first win in the UFC in June stopping Edward Faaloloto by first round TKO at the UFC on Versus 4 event in Pittsburgh. Previously he appeared in the “TUF 12 Finale” against teammate Jonathan Brookins and lost by unanimous decision. ‘The Menace’ is currently 4-1 as a pro in his last five fights.
Sass hasn’t been in the Octagon since last October when he made his UFC debut at UFC 120. At the London event, ‘Sassangle’ picked up a first round submission win over Mark Holst on the card as well as an extra $60,000 for “Submission of the Night”. The young British fighter has finished ten of his eleven opponents by submission, eight of which have tapped to the triangle choke. The only fight to go the distance was a split decisoin win which earned him the OMMAC lightweight title.
