Late Saturday night, a middleweight bout was announced for November’s upcoming UFC 138 event featuring ‘Filthy’ Tom Lawlor (7-3, 1NC) and Chris ‘The All American’ Weidman (6-0).
UFC 138 is expected to take place on November 19 at the HP Pavilion in San Jose, California. The event marks the first visit by the promotion to the longtime home of their former rivals, Strikeforce. The expected headliner features a heavyweight title match between champ Cain Velasquez and challenger, Junior dos Santos.
It is likely the Lawlor vs. Weidman bout will take place on the preliminary card.
UFC officials announced the bout via Twitter (@UFC).

Lawlor is 1-2 in his last three bouts and is 3-2 overall in the Octagon. His last fight was in October at UFC 121 against former No. 1 contender, Patrick Côté. ‘Filthy’ earned a unanimous decision in that fight and Côté earned a pink slip. The former “TUF 8″ competitor was expected to fight in August in Rio at UFC 134 against Maiquel Falcão till that fighters release, and then against Kyle Noke at UFC on Versus 5, but pulled out of that bout due to injury.
Weidman is undefeated in six pro starts and is 2-0 in the Octagon since making his debut earlier this year. ‘The All American’ took a last minute fight with Jesse Bongfeldt at UFC 131, replacing an injured Court McGee on the card. Weidman used a standing guillotine choke in the dying seconds of the round to win the fight and the “Submission of the Night” bonus. His first win was over Alessio Sakrara in March by unanimous decision on the UFC on Versus 3 card, replacing an injured Rafael Natal.
