Chris Wilson, Marcus Aurelio and Justin McCully likely released by the UFC

Welterweight Chris Wilson, lightweight Marcus Aurelio and heavyweight Justin McCully join former UFC lightweight title contender Hermes Franca as fighters recently cut from the UFC's roster.

News of the UFC releases of Wilson, Aurelio and McCully were first reported by MMASurvival.com with the site noting that the fighter's names have been removed from UFC.com.

Wilson (14-6) has lost two straight fights to both John Howard and most recently Mike Pyle at UFN 19 last month. He exits the UFC with a 1-3 record, with his lone octagon win coming against Steve Bruno. His other UFC loss came in his promotional debut against Jon Fitch. The IFL and Sportfight veteran has finished 11 of his 14 career wins and he holds notable wins in his career over Pat Healy, Rory Markham and Jay Hieron.

McCully (9-5-2) suffered a unanimous decision loss to Mike Russow in his last bout at UFC 102 in August. He leaves the UFC with a even 2-2 record, with wins over Antoni Hardonk and Eddie Sanchez, while suffering his other octagon loss against Gabriel Gonzaga. "The Insane One" has finished five of his nine career wins by submission.

Aurelio (18-8) is somewhat of a surprise cut as he was called back to the UFC after winning two straight fights outside the promotion. He is coming off a loss in his return to the octagon against Evan Dunham at UFC 102 on August 29. Aurelio departs with a 2-4 UFC record, with wins coming over Ryan Roberts and Luke Caudillo. He suffered other octagon losses to Tyson Griffin, Clay Guida, and Hermes Franca.

The longtime Pride veteran, Aurelio, has finished 15 of his 18 career wins including 11 coming via submission. He holds notable career wins over the likes of Masakazu Imanari, Rich Clementi and Takanori Gomi.
