Flyweight Semifinal Between Demetrious Johnson & Ian McCall Possible For TUF 15 Finale

With the judging debacle from this months UFC on FX 2 show, which saw a miscalculation of scores turning a split decision into a majority draw at the end of the night, UFC flyweights Demetrious Johnson (14-2-1) and Ian McCall (11-2-1) are set to meet again in the Octagon sometime this year. Word has surfaced that the two fighters will meet in June as part of “The Ultimate Fighter 15 Finale” according to MMAInterviews.tv who learned of the bout through sources close to the bout.
The “TUF 15 Finale” is expected to take place on June 1, 2012 at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Fans who watched the Johnson versus McCall match on March 3rd from Australia were robbed of a fourth round “Sudden Death” match after an adding error by the head judge at the Sydney event. Instead of the scores being read 29-28, 29-29, and 28-28 the scores were read 29-28, 29-29, and 29-28 in favor of Johnson.
In UFC president Dana White’s latest video blog, fans can watch the reaction of both fighters as he breaks the news to each fighter (starting at 5:30). White awarded each fighter their win bonus as well as the “Fight of the Night” bonus.
Johnson is now 0-1-1 in his last two matches, fighting McCall to a draw and losing to Dominick Cruz in a UFC bantamweight title match. Previous to that ‘Mighty Mouse’ had won four straight.
The Australian event was McCall’s debut with the UFC having won four straight including winning the Tachi Palace Fights flyweight title. ‘Uncle Creepy’ had made appearances with the WEC, including a loss to Dominick Cruz, fighting as a bantamweight before making his 125-lbs debut with TPF.
