'Count' Staph-ula: Michael Bisping nearly canceled his UFC 127 fight against Jorge Rivera

Props: ESPN
Quoteworthy:
"It was something I picked up in October and then it flared up again at the start of camp. The first couple of weeks it was really bothering me, and I couldn't really use my arm at one point. My manager did say to me, 'maybe you're gonna have to pull out of the fight', but we still had time. Fortunately the antibiotics have cleared it all up and now the arm's great. My manager was saying, 'you're doing great, hopefully we're on our way to a title shot, so you don't want to derail anything'. He wasn't saying, 'let's pull out', but he was saying that I should think about it. But we still had plenty of time and it cleared up."
Well, I guess now we know at least part of the reason Michael Bisping was so pissed off at the videos his UFC 127 opponent, Jorge Rivera, has been producing as of late. While "El Conquistador" has been having fun in front of the camera, "The Count" has been dealing with a recurring case of staph infection in his arm, going so far as to say his management encouraged him to think about at least postponing the bout. Thankfully, he's fully healed and will be cocked and ready on Feb. 27 when the UFC storms Australia for "Penn vs. Fitch" in Sydney. Anyone picking Rivera in light of this news regarding the Brit's recent health issues? Or is there no stopping Bisping's rise to the top? Have at it, Maniacs.
