The last time we saw Ivan Salaverry in the ring was in his UFC 84 bout against the then debuting Rousimar "Toquinho" Palhares. The veteran Salaverry lost amidst many rumors of retirement, and a lack of motivation.
The consummate counter fighter, Salaverry while always competitive against the top of his division, never quite managed to catch the cresting wave of the sport as it exploded around him.
