StrikeForce “Evolution” Announced, Jacare vs Lindland and King Mo Confirmed to Compete

The much anticipated rumored StrikeForce card for December has been confirmed earlier today by the promotion’s CEO Scott Coker at the StrikeForce “Fedor vs Rogers” pre-fight press conference in suburban Chicago, Illinois which will have new signees Matt Lindland (21-6) taking on Ronaldo ‘Jacare’ Souza (10-2) in a middleweight bout and fellow StrikeForce new acquisition Muhammed ‘King Mo’ Lawal (5-0) also making his debut on Showtime.
Coker revealed the breaking news earlier today to MMAJunkie.com as he also added that the name of the December 19 event in San Jose, California will be titled, StrikeForce “Evolution”.

“We’re calling the card ‘Evolution,’” Coker said. “It’s a big card for us as we feature some of the new fighters signed with some of the established, proven stars. Fans will get to see the new and old.”

As for the participants, Matt Lindland will be competing for the first time since the month of January when he was viciously knocked out by Vitor Belfort in just 37 seconds at Affliction “Day of Reckoning” while Ronaldo ‘Jacare’ Souza who is one of the best Brazilian Jiu Jitsu practitioners in MMA has gone 0-1 in his last two fights for the Japanese based DREAM promotion when he lost to Gegard Mousasi in a middleweight grand prix finals bout and a no-contest as recently at DREAM 9 in the month of May when he was illegally kicked on top of the head in a match-up with heated rival Jason ‘Mayhem’ Miller for the vacant DREAM middleweight title.

Meanwhile Muhammed ‘King Mo’ Lawal has finished four of his five career MMA bouts by the T/KO variety while competing under the WVR Sengoku and M-1 Global promotions.

Coker also revealed that newly crowned StrikeForce womans champion Cristiane ‘Cyborg’ Santos will not be apart of the December 19 attraction despite numerous reports, but does go on to say that she will be competing for the promotion in January of 2010.
