Scott Coker Wants Cung Le Back For December Strikeforce Event

Despite recent campaigning by former Strikeforce middleweight champ Cung Le (7-1) for a spot on the upcoming UFC 139 card in November, Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker says the San Shou practitioner will fight for them next, and will hopefully return to action this December.
Le has been asking to fight on the UFC 139 which is expected to take place in his home town of San Jose, California at the HP Pavilion, the same venue that has seen all eight of his pro-mma matches.
Despite the move by former Strikeforce welterweight champ Nick Diaz to the UFC, Coker has insisted that crossover fights will happen, just not yet.
At this past weekends Strikeforce event in Hoffman Estates, Ill., Coker spoke to MMAjunkie.com about the situation with Le, his next fight and crossover matches.
“Cung is going to fight in Strikeforce. Cung wants to fight in November because it’s his home town. I’d like to see Cung fight in our December show.”
“At some point, when we have more crossovers in the future, if it does happen, then that obviously will happen,” Coker said. “But right now, nothing’s changed.”
“We’ll definitely have Cung back in the cage soon,” Coker said. “We miss Cung Le.”
Le had his last fight in June of last year, earning a knockout victory in his back-to-back fight with Scott Smith at the Fedor vs. Werdum event. The bout was setup after Le suffered a third round KO loss to ‘Hands of Steel’ after dominating most of the fight. It was the first pro-defeat of Le’s career.
The former Strikeforce champ has spent much of his time lately working on his acting career, participating in several upcoming films.
