One of the pioneers in MMA, particularly in the mid-west as a cage announcer and an MMA Weekly radio host, Chris “Bigpoppa” Schnake, died recently. As you can see from this montage of clips, Bigpoppa was involved in some the earlier days of MMA — back when TapouT was big but still growing, back when Miletich fighters ruled the UFC, long before The Ultimate Fighter. From all who knew him, Bigpoppa sounded like a larger-than-life personality whose love and dedication to the sport of MMA was unquestionable.
