News of the change comes via the DailyTelegraph.com.au, an Australian news agency.
Update: UFC execs made the change official Friday by announcing the change at UFC.com.
Coming off of his blitzkrieg victory over Tim Credeur in June, Ed “Short Fuse” Herman will return to action in August. Herman has agreed to replace the injured Tom Lawlor against Aussie Kyle Noke August 14 in Milwaukee, Dana White confirmed today.
UFC on Versus 5 (aka UFC Live: Hardy vs. Lytle) is scheduled to take place on Aug. 14 at the Bradley Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in the promotions first visit to that state. The four card main event is set to air live on Versus in the U.S., on Rogers Sportsnet in Canada, and it’s likely the prelim card will be streamed live on Facebook.
Herman was last in the Octagon on June 4 at the “TUF 13 Finale” where he stopped Tim Credeur in the first round by TKO. The win erased a loss at the hands of Aaron Simpson at UFC 102 back in August of 2009. In that bout, ‘Short Fuse’ suffered a knee injury in that fight causing the fight to be stopped in the second round, giving Simpson the TKO victory.
Noke has won five straight, including three in the UFC. The “TUF 11″ fighter lost in the quarter-finals to Kris McCray on the Spike reality series, but did go on to win his UFC debut over teammate Josh Bryant at the Finale. His last fight took place in February where he fought in his home country of Australia at the UFC 127 event. There he stopped Chris Camozzi with a first round rear-naked choke submission which also earned him the “Submission of the Night” bonus.
