Meeting in a middleweight bout are a pair of former “TUF” alumni in ‘Crazy’ Tim Credeur (12-4) and Brad Tavares (7-1). Booked into a featherweight match are Tyson Griffin (15-5) and Bart ‘Bartimus’ Palaszewski (35-14).
UFC 137: St-Pierre vs. Diaz is expected to take place on October 29 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. No word on what part of the card either bout will be placed on, but it’s likely that both will end up on the preliminary portion of the event.
UFC President Dana White confirmed that verbal agreements were in place for both matches in an announcement posted at UFC.com.
Credeur is a former “TUF 7″ participant and has lost his last two fights. ‘Crazy’ suffered a first round TKO loss to Ed Herman at the “TUF 13″ finale in June, his first bout since receiving clearance for an abnormality discovered during a brain scan back in the spring of 2010. Medically, Credeur hasn’t had much luck, that abnormality forced him out of UFC 113 and a previous injury forced him off the UFC Fight Night 20 card.
Tavares was a semi-finalist on the eleventh season of “TUF” losing to teammate Court McGee on the series. So far he is 2-1 with the UFC, suffering his first pro loss in his last Octagon appearance, losing to Aaron Simpson by unanimous decision at UFC 132. Victories in the cage include wins over Phil Baroni and Seth Baczynski.
Griffin made his featherweight debut with the UFC in his last fight, earning a majority decision over Manvel Gamburyan in June at the UFC on Versus 4 event. The win follows three straight losses at lightweight for the fighter who dropped bouts to Nik Lentz, Takanori Gomi, and Evan Dunham.
Palaszewski will make his UFC debut against Griffin, having moved over from the WEC promotion where he went 4-3 overall in two runs. He was scheduled to debut at UFC 130 in May but an injury forced him off the card and was replaced by Rafaello Oliveira. ‘Bartimus’ was last in action last December at WEC 53, losing a split decision to Kamal Shalorus at the final WEC event.
