DREAM Adds Eiji Mitsuoka vs. Bruno Carvalho To July Event

DREAM officials have added another bout to the upcoming July event, adding to the woes of the World Victory Road’s Sengoku Raiden Championship promotion, Eiji Mitsuoka (17-7-2) has crossed over and signed with DREAM to meet another newcomer in Brazilian fighter Bruno Carvalho (6-1) in a lightweight (70kg) bout.
Previously the event was labelled DREAM.17, but officials have renamed the upcoming show Fight for Japan: DREAM Japan GP Final – 2011 Bantamweight Japan Tournament Final. The previous “Fight for Japan” event took place last month on May 29, while this event is scheduled for July 16 at the Ariake Coliseum in Tokyo, Japan. Currently there are no plans to air the event in North America, but HDNet did broadcast the May 29 event via tape delay, so it’s likely the same arrangements will be made for this upcoming event.
There appears to be some confusion as to which Bruno Carvalho (there are three listed on Sherdog.com) it is. Some sites are listing the 13-4 Carvalho who currently fights at middleweight, and has fought opponents as big as light heavyweight and heavyweight.
The correct Carvalho is the 6-1 who fights at 154 lbs and has won his last four fights. He earned his second win of 2011 by finishing both opponents in the first round. His most recent win was a first round TKO win at the Watch Out Combat Show 12, and his other victory was a one-minute knockout victory at a Nitrix – Champion Fight 6 event.
Mitsuoka is 1-1 in his last two and is 3-1 in his last four. He has only fought once in the past two years, forcing his opponent to tap to strikes at a DEEP – 53 Impact event in April. Previous to that he hasn’t fought professionally since November of 2009, his last appearance at a Sengoku event, a unanimous decision loss. He appeared in six straight Sengoku events from 2008 to 2009.
