“Irish Hand Grenade” Marcus Davis Signed By The MFC

Marcus DavisAfter suffering a knockout loss to Jeremy Stephens in his lightweight debut at UFC 125, veteran Marcus “Irish Hand Grenade” Davis (17-8) was released by the Ultimate Fighting Championship. It was the second straight loss for Davis who had gone 1-4 in his last five fights.
On Friday night, Maximum Fighting Championship President Mark Pavelich announced during the HDNet broadcast of MFC 28: Supremacy, that the promotion had signed Davis and who would debut in the near future.
Davis has fallen on hard times since an eleven fight win streak was stopped by Mike Swick at UFC 85 in June 2008. Since that time “The Irish Hand Grenade” put together a 3-5 record which included two “Fight of the Night” bonuses.
In Davis’ 15 fight career with the UFC, fourteen of those matches were fought at welterweight, only making the decision to drop to lightweight after a technical submission loss to Nate Diaz at UFC 116 last summer. Despite appearing much more energized at the lighter weight at UFC 125, Davis was caught in the third round by Stephens and suffered the second knockout loss of his career.
No word on when, or who Davis might meet in his MFC debut, but the promotion is headed to Ontario in April and may have a spot for the UFC vet on that card.
