StrikeForce Challenger results: Kerry Vera K.O’s Kim Couture with a 13 hit combo

The StrikeForce Challenger’s Kim Couture vs Kerry Vera was built up as a sequel to the UFC 105 Brandon Vera, but played out in a very different way then the men’s bout last weekend.

The fight started off with a bang as both fighters exchanged in the center of the cage with crisp and clean punches. Vera landing looping punches, Couture landing stiff jabs.

As the fight progressed Couture pinned Vera against the cage in a attempt to take her down, but paid with a solid knee to the head. The fighters separated again and began to exchange again, but Vera landed the more effective strikes.

Couture once again attempted to take Vera down with a single leg, but Vera had a solid base and was able to resist Couture’s attempts. She then backed Couture up with a punch and proceeded to land a 13 punch combo. Vera peppered Couture with punches to the body and face and knocked her down, causing the referee to stop the fight at 3:35 of the first round.

Couture laid on the floor unconscious for several minutes, but woke up eventually and was able to get back up and leave the Cage.
