Fedor Emelianenko Meets Jeff Monson On November 12 In Russia

Russian heavyweight Fedor Emelianenko (31-4, 1NC) will attempt to end a three fight losing skid in November when he faces long time mma vet Jeff ‘The Snowman’ Monson (42-12) in Russia.
M-1 Global Pres Vadim Finkelstein announced last weekend that ‘The Last Emporer’ would avoid retirement by fighting again in his native homeland in “late fall”.
Monson confirmed that was to be Fedor’s upcoming opponent for the event on Twitter (@JeffMonson) late Tuesday evening.

‘The Snowman’ also noted that he will be in Russia for the 16th of September for a press conference to officially announce the bout, and that Russian leader Vladimir Putin would also be present.
Fedor was recently released by Strikeforce after his third straight loss, this most recent defeat came at the hands of Dan Henderson on July 30. The other two losses include stoppages by Antonio ‘Bigfoot’ Silva and Fabricio Werdum, while the only victory in a Strikeforce cage came against Brett Rogers back in November 2009.
Monson has been trying to work his way back into the spotlight, having an eight fight win streak ended by Daniel Cormier in June at the Strikeforce: Overeem vs. Werdum show. That bout marked his Strikeforce debut, which saw him lose to the, now Grand Prix tournament semi-finalist, by unanimous decision. Monson was a late replacement for Shane del Rosario at the Dallas show.

Strikeforce middleweight champ Ronaldo ‘Jacare’ Souza (14-2, 1NC) is less than a week away from his second title defense where he’ll meet top contender, Luke Rockhold (7-1) at this Saturday’s Strikeforce: World Heavyweight Grand Prix – Barnett vs. Kharitonov event.

Brett Rogers To Return On Sept, 23 At Titan Fighting Championships 20


Former Strikeforce heavyweight Brett ‘The Grimm’ Rogers (11-3) is set to return to the cage this month, revealing to HDNet that he will fight on September 23 on the Titan Fighting Championship 20 event. At the Kansas event, ‘The Grimm’ will face former UFC and Bellator tournament heavyweight, Eddie Sanchez (12-5).
In an interview with Inside MMA rogers also discusses his upcoming trial after facing several assault charges involving his wife.
Titan FC 20 is scheduled to take place on Sept. 23 at the Memorial Hall in Kansas City, Kansas.

Former UFC champ Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira gives his opponent Brendan Schaub credit for some great punches, but the Brazilian says he is back and that he proved all of the doubters wrong. ‘Big Nog’ earned a first round knockout win over Schaub in his first fight in over a year-and-a-half, noting that this is one of the “greatest moments” in his career.

Cyrille Diabate To Meet Anthony Perosh At UFC 138

‘The Hippo’ will take on ‘The Snake’ this November when two UFC light heavyweight fighters meet in the Octagon as part of UFC 138: Leben vs. Munoz.
Australian fighter Anthony ‘The Hippo’ Perosh (11-6) will take on French striker Cyrille ‘The Snake’ Diabaté (17-7-1), all according to Diabaté who posted the news via Twitter site (@CyrilleDiabate) on Thursday.

UFC 138: Leben vs. Munoz is scheduled to take place on November 5 at the LG Arena in Birmingham, England. The event will feature the first five-round main event non-title bout in the organizations history, pitting middleweights Chris Leben against Mark Munoz.
This bout marks Perosh’s second match at light heavyweight after three losses in two stints with the UFC, fighting at heavyweight. ‘The Hippo’ won his 205 lb debut last February at the UFC 127 Sydney event, stopping Tom Blackledge by first round submission. The Australian’s previous fight, stepping in as a late replacement for Ben Rothwell, was a second round TKO loss to Mirko ‘Cro Cop’ Filipovic at UFC 110.
Diabaté was last in action in March, winning a unanimous decision against Steve Cantwell at the UFC on Versus 4 event. The victory erased a submission loss to Alexander Gustafsson at UFC 120, a defeat which ended a six fight win streak for ‘The Snake’. The French fighter debuted with the UFC at UFC 114, earning a first round TKO win over Luiz Cane.

“The New York Bad Ass” Phil Baroni (14-13) is calling out opponent Yoshiyuki Yoshida leading up to their fight on Sept. 3rd. Both fighters will make their debut with new Asian mixed martial arts (MMA) promotion ONE Fighting Championship on Saturday, Sep. 3 in a welterweight match-up.
In this video clip, Baroni references the line made famous in several movies “They LIve” directed by famed director John Carpenter of “The Thing”, “Escape From New York”, “The Fog”, “Big Trouble in Little China ” and “Halloween”. “I came here to kick ass and chew bubble gum….and I’m all out of bubble gum!”

After UFC Debut, Brazilian Ronny Markes Dropping To Middleweight For Next Fight

Winning his UFC debut earlier this month as a light heavyweight, Brazilian fighter Ronny Markes (12-1) will drop down to middleweight for his next fight.
In June Markes signed with the UFC as a replacement for an injured Stephan Bonnar at this months UFC on Versus 5 event in Milwaukee. Markes took on Czech fighter Karlos Vemola on the prelim card of the Versus show and earned a unanimous decision.
Markes has normally competed as a middleweight fighting in his home country of Brazil, has decided to move back down despite a solid debut at 205 lbs.
Tatame.com learned of the move from Markes coach Jair Lourenco earlier this weekend.

Fans Can Expect Pat Curran To Stay At 145 Lbs (Video)



Summer Series Featherweight Tournament winner Pat Curran says he plans on staying at 145 lbs, as he feels it’s a more natural weight class for him. Curran stopped the highly ranked Marlon Sandro in Saturday’ night’s Bellator 48 main event with a second round knockout.
Curran earned his second $100,000 check from Bellator, having won the season two lightweight tourny previously.
