A pair of veterans have re-signed with the Ultimate Fighting Championship, as both middleweight Chris ‘Kamikaze’ Camozzi (17-5) and welterweight Josh ‘The Dentist’ Neer (33-11-1) have signed four fight contracts.
The promotion has also reportedly added Brazilian fighter Jussier da Silva (14-1) to the promotions growing flyweight division.
Camozzi spoke to MMAWeekly.com about the new contract, “I
am excited to be around a for four more fights. The UFC is the pinnacle
of mixed martial arts and I am honored they want me to be with them.”
‘Kamikaze’ is currently on a two fight win streak and is 4-2 in the
Octagon. He earned his most recent win last month by finishing Nick
Catone via third round TKO at UFC on FX 4.
News of Neer’s re-signing was announced by BJPenn.com on Thursday.
‘The Dentist’ had a six fight win streak stopped by Mike Pyle last
month after getting knocked out in the first round of their bout at UFC
on FX 3. Neer is in his fourth run with the UFC and is 7-7 in the
Octagon.
Da Silva is a member of the Nova Uniao Kimura club in Brazil and is
another fighter who will help expand the UFC’s growing 125-lbs division.
News of his signing was announced by manager Andre Pederneiras in a recent video.
‘Formiga’ as he’s called, is currently on a five fight win streak
which includes four submission finishes at events in Brazil and in the
U.S. The only loss of his career came at the hands of UFC Flyweight
Tournament semifinalist Ian McCall back in February 2011.
