Connection Rio: Bitetti Combat 10 and Jungle Fight 33 both take place in Rio this month

Life in Rio
October 12th marked the 80th anniversary for Cristo Redentor (Christ the Redeemer). It watches over Rio, and the statue has seen the city go through many changes over the years. It is undoubtedly well worth the time to visit if you are already in Rio.
For that matter, it’s worth the trip coming from abroad just to stand under one of the magnificent wonders of our world in it’s tranquil perch above this city.
R$43.00 will take you by train from the base of the mountain almost to Cristo’s feet and the panoramic view surrounding the monument. It’s open from 8:30am-7:00pm Monday-Sunday, and they even accept most credit cards.
Address: Rua Cosme Velho, 513, Cosme Velho RJ
Subway: Get off at station Largo do Machado
Bus: 422 / 498, in 15 square towards the southern bus 422 / 498, down in front of St. Jude Thaddeus Church.
MMA is on the rise in Brazil
This month there is no shortage of MMA for the city of Rio de Janeiro. Wallid Ismail (latest video interview on toughness – www.youtube.com/user/BJJHacks#p/u/0/SY60MMPLBdQ ) has put together another spectacular Jungle Fight ( www.junglefight.net.br ) on 22nd October in the City of God.
One of the athletes headlining Jungle Fight 33 is Alexandre “Pulga” (10-0), who is known for his sharp ground game and relentless attack.
An event of this caliber being held in City of God is HUGE. It will undoubtedly be of utmost importance in opening doors for this community, and should break some of the stereotypical images of what this part of Rio is like.
A big thanks is owed to CUFA (Central Unica Das Favelas) president Celso Athayde – http://www.blogdoporradao.blogspot.com/ and City of Rio Regional Administrator Miria Ferreira for working with Wallid Ismail and “Bebeo” Duarte to make this event a reality.

In the mean time, there is something of a warm up for the big event next week with more MMA in the city this weekend! The latest Bitetti Combat production (founded by World BJJ champion Amaury Bitetti – http://www.bjjheroes.com/bjj-fighters/amaury-bitetti-facts-and-bio) takes place Saturday in Botafogo, Rio de Janeiro.
Bitetti Combat 10 features two 77 kg Grand Prix divisions with some great athletes to watch: Edilberto Crocotá (18-7-2), Ivan Batman (18-2) and André Chatuba (25-6) to name a few.
These Brazilian stars will be fighting twice in the same night to take home the belt. The winner of each GP will meet in December for a unified belt. For a taste of what Bitetti Combat is like check out this Real Rio Episode – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jyJAjmCaTK8
