Almost seven years after they first met, Jessica Aguilar (11-4 MMA, 2-1 BFC) and Lisa Ellis-Ward (14-6 MMA, 2-1 BFC) are set to fight once again.
MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) confirmed with a source close to the event that the pair will meet at Bellator 58, which takes place Nov. 19 at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Fla. MMARising.com first reported the matchup, which is contested at 115 pounds.
As usual, MTV2 airs the event's main card while preliminary fights stream live on Spike.com.
Aguilar and Ellis-Ward availed themselves well in Bellator's inaugural women's 115-pound tournament held this past year. Both advanced to the semifinals, where they fell short: Aguilar via a controversial decision to eventual champ Zoila Gurgel and Ellis-Ward by submission to finalist Megumi Fujii.
Since then, Aguilar has rebounded with two victories including a recent appearance at Bellator 46 in which she narrowly outpointed Carla Esparza.
Ward, meanwhile, has yet to fight since the tournament. Almost seven years ago, she welcomed Aguilar to professional MMA in a regional event and submitted the newcomer in the second round.
