On Wednesday night the Ultimate Fighting Championship announced a middleweight bout for the upcoming UFC on Versus 5 (aka UFC Live: Hardy vs. Lytle) event between Aussie Kyle Noke (19-4-1) and “Filthy” Tom Lawlor (7-3, 1NC).
Two fan favorites from TUF seasons past will face off in a middleweight bout this summer. Dana White confirmed today that Aussie Kyle Noke and “Filthy” Tom Lawlor have agreed to meet at UFC on Versus 5. Both men are coming off solid wins – Lawlor decisioned Patrick Cote last fall at UFC 121, while Noke scored Submission of the Night at UFC 127 in Sydney.
UFC Live: Hardy vs. Lytle is scheduled to take place on Aug. 14 at the Bradley Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and represents the first UFC event held in that state.
Noke rides a five fight win streak into the August bout, having won three straight in the UFC. The Aussie earned the “Submission of the Night” bonus in his last fight after forcing opponent Chris Camozzi to tap in the first round of the Sydney event. Noke has earned wins over Rob Kimmons at UFC 122 by submission, and Josh Bryant at the “TUF 11 Finale” by second round TKO.
Lawlor likely saved his job in the UFC in his last fight by earning a unanimous decision against Patrick Côté at UFC 121 last October. “Filthy” had dropped two straight and holds a 3-2 record with the UFC. Lawlor was submitted by Joe Doerksen at UFC 113 and lost a split decision to Aaron Simpson at UFC Fight Night 20.
