Felice Herrig: Is Everything Woman's MMA Needs!!!

When I woke up his morning, I had no idea that I would be contemplating the state of woman's MMA. Well the fact of the matter is that I have been arguing with a former UFC champ and freind for years that woman are going to be the "next big thing" in MMA. We placed a bet of which the loser would have to pay up by taking the winner to the best steak place in town.

I'm kind of winning and sort of losing. Woman's MMA is exploding but not on the most visible stage aside from Strikeforce. If you don't believe me try to find a 135 female professional MMA athlete and schedule her.

That's where I'm sort of losing. The demand far out-weighs the supply. When a promoter contacts me and asks for a female pro to put on their card, I get short of breath and anxiety sets in. Ugggghhh!!!

Having said that, lets move on to the matter and focal point of the story. Felice "Lil Bulldog" Herrig

Felice appeared on Fight Girls in 2007 on the Oxygen Channel and won her fight in Thailand against a champion Thai fighter. She is scheduled to appear on another reality show about woman's mma called The Ultimate Woman's Challenge.

In 2005 and 2006, Herrig was named IKF Woman’s Bantamweight North American Champion. She has also competed in the World Combat League with the St. Louis Enforcers

Herrig faced Iman Achhal at UWC - Man "O" War on February 21, 2009 in her MMA debut. She lost the fight by split decision.

She faced Michelle Guiterrez at Unconquered 1: November Reign on November 20, 2009. She won the fight by armbar submission in the second round.

Herrig faced Jessica Rakoczy at Bellator 14 on April 15, 2010. She won the fight via split decision.

Herrig faced Amanda LaVoy at XFO 37 on December 4, 2010. She won the fight via armbar submission in the first round

Herrig faced Barb Honchak at Hoosier Fight Club 6: New Years Nemesis in Valparaiso, Indiana on January 14, 2011. She lost the fight via unanimous decision.

Herrig faced Andrea Miller at Chicago Cagefighting Championship 3 on March 5, 2011.

Herrig faced Nicdali Rivera-Calanoc at XFO 39 on May 13 at the Sears Centre in Hoffman Estates, Illinois. She won via unanimous decision.

They say dynamite come in small packages. That illustration has never been more true than when it is said with Felice in the same sentence. She has skill, personality, witt and looks which makes her a marketing dream. Fans can find her on Facebook, Twitter and Myspace. Felice is very active on the social platform and the comments that she posts are at the very least entertaining.

"If you love me you already know what my favorite fruit it..if you're stalking me you probably also know what my favorite fruit is"

"I started designating a bedtime for myself...so no more late night tweets... but u can tell me bedtime stories"

"If u hit something enough it usually complies...or retaliates"

"My tweets amuse me * and sometimes arouse me*"

"I always become torn in the summer when Starbucks has their mocha coconut frap. Do I cheat on caribou for a summer fling?" ( Felice is addicted to Caribou Coffee)

"I hear nuts are a good brain food...if u guys want to b smart u will all eat your nuts"

"I love seeing cute couples... u can tell when they're in love and when they're just getting it on"

"Why do I always get hungry or have to pee right after I do my nails?"

"Have u ever sat and wondered, " how did I het here?" * and how did these handcuffs get on me?"

"Wow! I see guys fascination with tits..u think if I grab em ill get thrown out?maybe?"

"Do people actually read magazines or just look st the pictures? * my magazines are sticky*"

You never know what going to show up but it has become a part of my daily entertainment...it seems that as fearless as she is in the cage, ring and weigh-ins is just as true in who she is as a person. At times it appears that she lacks a certain filter neurologically and the comments just come at her fans and admirers which allows them all to appreciate the "keep it real" attitude that is so prevalent.

Anyway, we here at MMA Warlike respect, admire her and adore her for the complete person she is and her willingness to be available to interact with her fans and admirers on a personal level. There are a number of athletes at her level that are missing the perverbial boat by assigning someone else to do their talking for them and it's all to apparent. Quite frankly, it's just plain disrespectful in my book.

I am a proponent and supporter of the athlete all the way, but when I see the athletes not doing their part in subscribing to the component that allows them to do what they do on any level disheartens me. Perhaps in alot of cases it's not so much the athletes as it is the people that represent them. They come off over-bearing, controlling and insecure. So afraid that they're going to let that meal ticket fall into someone else's mouth...well, I'll tell you; if it's going to happen, then so be it. Those people should worry more about the steak and a little less about the peas on the plate.
