Introducing Chad Robo…MMA’s next bantamweight star

Known to his students as “Professor Robo,” Chad Robichaux is not only one of the
best up-and-coming mixed martial arts fighters
in the world, but he is also becoming one of its most respected coaches as well.
Robichaux or “Robo”, a Carlos Gracie Jr. 1st Degree Black Belt, owns Gracie
Barra North Houston Schools in Texas, 3 locations with nearly 1,000 students.

As a professional mixed martial
artist, Robo is quickly gaining notoriety for himself and looks to gain even
more when he makes his debut in Bellator Fighting Championships on April 16 to
face current bantamweight champion Zach Makovsky in a “super fight.” Robo has
already defeated the likes of Lewis McKenzie, which earned him the Legacy FC
Bantamweight Championship, and Humberto Deleon, a Strikeforce victory that was
his eleventh in a row and first victory via decision after ten consecutive
submissions. On top of his new title, Robichaux is 11-0 with ten of his
victories coming by submission, including eight stoppages in the first round.

Robo trains with some of the best that
the sport has to
offer at Gracie Barra, including WEC/Dream veteran Todd Moore, legendary
Jiu-Jitsu Coaches Vinicius "Draculino" Magalhaes and Octavio “Ratinho” Couto,
Jordanian Muay Thai National Team Coach Ali Alhalabi, NCAA Wrestler Jody
Trantham, and 33-1 pro boxer Lewis Wood.

Combining incredible strength that often leads to impressive
slams and elite grappling ability, Robo has quietly become one of the best
prospects in the sport while remaining unbeaten in his career that has spanned
11 years. Now, however, he feels like it is his time to show the world the elite
fighter that he is, and he gets his shot on April 16 when he takes on Makovsky
in the “super fight.”

“Zach is a great
fighter,” Robichaux said. “He has a simple yet effective game. He’s consistently
good at many things, but I am to… like I’m consistently good at winning.”

Regarding Zach’s experience in higher
level fights and having fought higher caliber opponents, Robichaux said, “Yes,
Zach has fought higher level talent than me. This is a step up for me, he’s the
champ. After four years in Afghanistan I had to work my way back in the scene.
However, when we step in that ring it is me and Zach, not Zach and his resume.
I’m ready and I hope he is, because he is where I want to be, where I worked my
whole life to be, and I will take his place on April 16th. “

As the No. 1 ranked pound-for-pound
fighter in the Houston area, Robichaux feels he is ready to show the entire
country what an amazing fighter and human being he is.

In addition to being an elite fighter, Robo also served the
United States as a member of the U.S. Marine Corps, Special Operations Force
Reconnaissance Marine, and a Federal Agent. He serves his local area as a
volunteer wrestling
coach, and received the Medal of Valor. Robo also holds an MBA from New York
Tech, and is a husband and father of three.

In addition, Robo has teamed up with Soldiers Angel’s and
Ranger Up in support of Disabled Veterans’ “American Heroes” coming back from
Iraq and Afghanistan to provide a viewing party for his Bellator 41 fight and
the opportunity to meet and train with him in the future.

“Stylistically this is a perfect match-up
for anyone wanting to see an action packed MMA bout. Zach and I are both highly
skilled and extremely athletic competitors; we are both strategy gamers and
composed under pressure, but we have the ability to push each other. I see it
being nearly impossible for this not to be an exciting bout. It will either end
dynamically or will be three rounds of non-stop action, but if you ask my
prediction… I intend to finish him, there is no strategy in my game book for a
decision, I did it once and have slept right since. I will push to end this
fight”
