mattbrown8x
A welterweight bout between Matt Brown (11-10) and Mark Scanlon (7-2) appears all but set for the upcoming UFC on Versus 3 event in March.
Heavy.com was the first to report the fight on Monday, noting that both fighters have agreed to the bout and are waiting to sign the official paperwork.
Brown is fighting for his UFC career after losing his last three bouts with the top promotion, sporting a 4-4 record overall while in the octagon. The three losses, all by submission took place in 2010, were to Brian Foster at UFC 123, Chris Lytle at UFC 116, and to Ricardo Almeida at UFC 111 ending a three fight win streak.
Scanlon is likely looking at dismissal from the UFC if he should lose to Brown. The British fighter made his UFC debut at last November’s UFC 122 event in Germany, suffering a unanimous decision loss to Pascal Krauss. The defeat was the first of his career but earned both men the “Fight of the Night” award for their efforts.
UFC on Versus 3 is set to take place on March 3rd in Louisville, Kentucky. The event has not been officially announced and no venue has been identified at this time.
