UFC On Versus 3 To Add Alessio Sakara vs. Maiquel Falcao

AlessioSakaraUFC middleweights Alessio Sakara (15-7) and Maiquel Falcao (26-3) will square off at the recently identified UFC on Versus 3 event in March.
MMAjunkie.com first reported the bout, confirming the fight with Falcao’s management Prime Fighters Management.
Sakara had been looking to face Jorge Rivera but injuries and illness kept the fighters from squaring off twice this year. The first was at UFC 118, which was canceled after Rivera broke his arm, and the second was at UFC 122 for the co-headliner but was canceled after Sakara become ill and was unable to fight.
Now Sakara will meet UFC sophomore Falcao at the future event. Sakara has won three straight fights and is 4-1 in his last five. He defeated James Irvin last March at UFC Live: Vera vs. Jones, Thales Leites via split decision at UFC 101, and Joe Vedepo by knockout at UFC Fight Night 15 in those three victories.
Falcao won his UFC debut against Gerald Harris at UFC 123 by unanimous decision in a bout that could have seen him win by submission in the first round. Falcao had a rear-naked-choke secured in the dying moments of the first round when the bell sounded to end the round, on further review it was shown that the round ended seven seconds too early which could have been enough time to force the tap.
“Big Rig” Falcao has won eight straight fights and is 12-1 in his last thirteen matches. The Brazilian has won 21 of his 26 victories by T(KO), three by submission, and only gone to decision twice.
UFC on Versus 3 is tentatively scheduled for March 3rd with no venue or city identified at this time.
